Hatch: Self-distributing systems for data centers

چکیده

Designing and maintaining distributed systems remains highly challenging: there is a high-dimensional design space of potential ways to distribute system’s sub-components over large-scale infrastructure; the deployment environment for system tends change in unforeseen time. For engineers, this complex prediction problem gauge which may best suit given environment. We present concept self-distributing systems, any local built using our framework can learn, at runtime, most appropriate its perceived operating conditions. Our abstracts distribution list simple actions reward matrix alternatives be used by reinforcement learning algorithms. By doing this, we enable software experiment, live production environment, with different modules placing them hosts throughout infrastructure. implement call Hatch, has three major elements: (i) transparent generalized RPC layer that supports seamless relocation component remote host during execution; (ii) set primitives, including relocation, replication sharding, from create an action/reward possible designs system; (iii) decentralized approach converge towards more optimal real Using example web-serving infrastructure, Hatch able autonomously select suitable among ?700,000 about 5 min.

Distributing Data for Teleimmersion

This paper is intended to provide a general overview of the emergent field of teleimmersion. We detail some of the major issues facing teleimmersive application developers and suggest seven significant factors that determine how data should be distributed. In particular the impact of data size on delivery of quality-of-service requirements is examined. A flexible model for data sharing in distr...

Data Mining for Modeling Chiller Systems in Data Centers

We present a data mining approach to model the cooling infrastructure in data centers, particularly the chiller ensemble. These infrastructures are poorly understood due to the lack of “first principles” models of chiller systems. At the same time, they abound in data due to instrumentation by modern sensor networks. We present a multi-level framework to transduce sensor streams into an actiona...

Energy-saving self-configuring networked data centers

In this paper, we develop the optimal minimum-energy scheduler for the dynamic online joint allocation of the task sizes, computing rates, communication rates and communication powers in virtualized Networked Data Centers (NetDCs) that operates under hard per-job delay-constraints. The referred NetDC’s infrastructure is composed by multiple frequency-scalable Virtual Machines (VMs), that are in...

Distributing reactive systems

This paper addresses the problem of distributing reactive systems. We first show that the use of synchronous languages allows a natural parallel description of such systems, regardless of any distribution problems. Then, a desired distribution can be easily specified, and achieved with the algorithm presented here. This distribution technique provides distributed programs with the same safety, ...
